Loose Bolt Shield Anchors
Loose Bolt Shield Anchors
These loose bolt shield anchors are the original type of anchor bolts. They have impressive strength capabilities and have the advantage that they have a bolt head which can offer a relatively low profile when fixing stanchions, ironwork, etc. They are not through fixings, so the installation method is more complex as the loose bolt has to be fixed through the fixture item once the shield has been drilled and installed into the substrate .
Compatible with most types of metric threaded components. A three segmented expansion anchor used in concrete, brick or stone. Bolt sizes above M12 are not recommended for use in brickwork or blockwork. These are supplied in a zinc plated and passivated finish as standard.
Please note the sizing of shield anchors can be a bit confusing! The sizing is the metric thread size i.e a M10 - 10mm M1010LB is a M10 bolt size with a 10mm fixture thickness capacity – e.g a 10mm thick steel bracket. The overall length of the bolt is not how they are measured but includes the shield length, the fixing thickness, bolt head thickness plus a bit more to allow for installing/tightening.
Shield anchors are commonly known as ‘Rawl bolts’, ‘Rawbolts’, or ‘Rawlbolts’.
- The shield anchor is a popular anchor, internally threaded for fixing into masonry and concrete
- Ideal general purpose anchor bolt, suitable for variations in hole size
- The perfect anchor for use in concrete, concrete blocks, solid brick or stone
Drill sizes in the substrate for shield anchors are: M6 – 12mm, M8 – 14mm, M10 – 16mm, M12 – 20mm, M16 – 25mm, M20 – 32mm.
