ISO 14064 Carbon Reporting: Why It Matters to FixFirm's Customers

21/10/2026

Sustainability is not simply about making commitments. It is about understanding environmental impact, measuring progress and identifying where further improvements can be made.

That is why FixFirm continues its commitment to ISO 14064-1:2018.

FixFirm has successfully completed its latest ISO 14064-1 verification with Interface NRM Ltd. Our reporting journey began through a pilot scheme in 2021 and has since given us a clearer understanding of our environmental impact and where practical improvements can be made.

A significant amount of work goes into gathering and reviewing the information behind our reporting. A big thank you goes to Kristie and everyone across FixFirm who has contributed to the process and helped drive improvements throughout the business.

We are proud of the progress made so far, but equally focused on what comes next.

Five Years of Measuring, Reporting and Reducing

Consistent reporting gives us something important: the ability to compare our performance against an established base year.

Our latest results show the progress made in 2025 compared with our 2021 base year:

  • Total emissions reduced by 30%

  • Purchased electricity emissions reduced by 17%

  • Purchased goods emissions reduced by 33%

  • Waste-generated emissions reduced by 68%

FixFirm's total reported footprint for 2025 was 1,529.362 tCO2e, compared with a 2021 baseline of 2,196.61 tCO2e.

Carbon intensity has also reduced.

In 2021, FixFirm's carbon intensity was 420.0 tCO2e per 1 million GBP turnover. In 2025, that figure was 338.0 tCO2e per 1 million GBP turnover, 20% lower than the 2021 base year.

What Is Behind the Progress?

For FixFirm, ISO 14064 is not simply another certificate on the wall.

Reporting helps us understand where our greenhouse gas emissions come from and identify practical opportunities for improvement.

Actions supporting the progress made so far include:

  • Switching to an electricity provider that supplies electricity only from renewable sources

  • Introducing electric vehicles

  • Optimising delivery routes

  • Reducing waste and increasing recycling

  • Reducing paper use across the business

Consistent, practical improvements can add up to meaningful progress.

Importantly, our approach is based on measurement, action and continuous improvement, rather than suggesting that the work is complete.

Why Does Carbon Reporting Matter to Our Customers?

Our reporting is not only about understanding FixFirm's own environmental impact.

More organisations are being asked to demonstrate environmental responsibility throughout their supply chains, which means the information available from suppliers can become increasingly useful to their customers.

By measuring and reporting our emissions, FixFirm can help:

  • Support customer ESG requirements

  • Relate emissions to customer spend to assist with customers' own calculations

  • Support public sector and framework procurement requirements

  • Help customers choose suppliers with verified environmental reporting

These benefits are not specific to construction and can support customers with a range of ESG, procurement and reporting requirements.

Verified environmental reporting can provide customers with useful information to support ESG, supply-chain and procurement requirements.

Supporting Customer Reporting and Procurement

One practical benefit of FixFirm's reporting is the ability to relate emissions information to customer spend.

This can assist customers with their own calculations where information relating to businesses within their supply chain is required.

There is an important distinction to make.

Spend-linked emissions information should not be described as a product-level carbon footprint unless that is specifically supported by the calculation method.

Instead, it provides additional organisational emissions information that can support customers with their wider reporting requirements.

Looking Further Into Our Supply Chain

Our reporting has also helped us understand where further attention needs to be focused.

FixFirm's largest emissions category is purchased goods and services.

As a result, we are increasing engagement with suppliers about their emissions and giving greater consideration to lower-carbon options.

This is an important part of what comes next.

Further progress will require collaboration with both customers and suppliers.

The information available from our suppliers helps us develop a better understanding of our own environmental impact, while the information we report can, in turn, help our customers with their requirements.

Continuing to Measure and Improve

The purpose of measuring our emissions is not to suggest that FixFirm has completed its sustainability journey. It gives us a clearer understanding of where we are today and allows us to measure future progress against our 2021 base year.

FixFirm's long-term ambition is Net Zero by 2050, with a target to achieve a 90% reduction from the base year.

Continuing to measure, report and improve will remain an important part of that journey, helping FixFirm identify where further progress can be made while giving customers clearer information to support their own ESG, procurement and reporting requirements.
